Adopters
must be over 18 years old
and have sufficient horse care
knowledge to adopt.Decisions
are based on the applicant's horse knowledge,
honesty, safety of the facility, references,
and photographs.
Once approved,
we will begin profiling a list of
horses we think will suit your
desire.
We currently have over 120 horses
in our program. We are also constantly
searching for lifetime homes for our
available 'pasture
mate' horses,
who cannot be ridden. The Foundation
currently supports more than 79 'pasture
mate' horses.
.
If you plan to board your horse a lien release
must also be signed by the boarding facility.
Shipping is your responsibility.
We also ask for an adoption donation, which varies by the horse's level of use. An adoption donation is waived for "Pasture mates" or companion horses. SRF is a 501 (c)3 organization and relies
completely on contributions.
Part of the agreement is your willingness to comply with having your veterinarian complete the Veterinarian Follow -up Form twice a year, informing us of your horses condition. Our adopted horses can
never be bred, used for embryo transfer, raced, sold, used for commercial purposes, or given
away. We are looking for lifetime homes, however if an adopter can no longer provide good care
for the horse, the horse must come back to SRF.
